Keith Brenton is a COC member who blogs at several places. One is the New Wineskins blog listed at left. Another is his own Blog In My Own Eye (I love the title), which you’ll now find linked at left. I found him a while back either through the New Wineskin’s site or the Church of Christ blogs aggregator, I don’t remember which.
I like his posts because they are deep, yet practical, common sense applications of the gospel.
He’s also been vocal in recent days on the crazy papers an articles going around my ICOC tribe lately. There’s been a long standing division between the COC and the ICOC and I appreciate another voice longing for more reconciliation, not to mention his concern for our fellowship.
He’s linked to my site for a while now and it’s time I returned the favor. Take a minute to go read some of his posts.

T’bird Links
Since I’ve begun posting stuff about my Thunderbird, I decided to add a category of links to Thunderbird sites to my blogroll. These are sites with info or message boards, not parts vendors.
The Thunderbird Cybernest is the host of several Yahoo Groups dedicated to the various iterations of the Thunderbird. I get a lot of info and help from the folks on the Squarebirds list.
Squarebirds.org is a site dedicaated to the 3 years of Thunderbirds like mine, 1958-1960. It has a bunch of technical info and an active message board.
The Thunderbird Registry is a project by LOVEFords to try to document where as many Thunderbirds as possible are today. As of this writing they’ve registered 27,685 Thunderbirds. Mine is Registry Number 20,128.
Probably not of interest to most of you, but oh well.
New Links
I’ve added a couple more links to the Blogroll at left. This is sort of my ‘favories’ list on my near daily walk through the blogscape, so I try to add links that I find pulling me back again and again.
The first is Cerulean Sanctum. The author, Dan Edelen, is from my home state of Ohio, although the SW corner. It’s a nice blend of thoughtful reflection and plain common sense.
The second is A Ministry of Reconciliation, a group blog of some former, and perhaps current, members of the Salf Lake Christian Church, an ICOC congregation. Thomas Rasmussen, one of the members, also blogs as Didymus.
I’ve also removed the Rwanda Missions link. Greg and Sara are back home safely from their Rwanda trip and that Blog has served it’s purpose. You can still read Greg at his regular blog.
Color Tweak
I finally got back around to tweaking the colors a bit more. Slightly lighter yellow and a ‘redder’ red. I changed the border to that same red too and removed the red from the right side bar. The red on the yellow just wasn’t right.
I’ll likely try some completely new color combos too, later.
Anyway, very slight refinement, but whatcha think now?
New colors
I spent a couple of hours messing with the colors on my site and I’m not completely sure I like it. I think I like it. I want to like it since I spent an entire evening on it.
My wife’s response was ‘Eew’ with a disgusted smirk. Hmmm.
What say you?
J. Brian Craig
I’ve added a link at left for the music of J. Brian Craig. I meant to do this a while ago, but, well, I forgot. He’s a part of the LA Church of Christ and he has a real gift for modern, congregational worship music. Several of his songs are in our church’s songbook, and they’re among my favorites. You can download MP3 files of many of his congregational songs at his site as well as the lyrics for most of them. He aslo has an upcoming CD of congregational music coming out which I’m looking forward to.
In addition to his congregational music, he’s made two other CD’s. The first is no longer available, but you can still get the newest one, Rocks and Trees, and according to his web site, the proceeds from that CD go to missions work in Mexico and Central America.
He also has more (older, I think) MP3 downloads here.
Style Tweaks
Observant readers may notice that thing look a little different around here. Very little different, so you really have to be observant.
First, I’ve changed to a sans-serif font. I know, radical move, I’m really living on the edge.
Second, I’ve changed the default look for blockquotes. Smaller font, black text, gray background. Now I’m just over the top, crazy.
Third, I’ve changed the trackback section to have a gray background too, with black text. I think that cleans up the trackback/comments area making it a bit easier to read.
Fourth, I tweaked the individual archives, adding categories under the title and removing the link to the trackback pop up.
Whatcha think?
I may try tweaking the colors a bit later. I know your waiting in anticipation.
You can now go back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Rwanda Missions
Greg Kendallball and his wife Sara are in the air somewhere or on and airport in between flights. They’re on their way to Rwanda to “spy out the and” so to speak. They’ll be talking to ministers, officials and others as well as checking out what life in Rwanda is like and what it costs. Their goal is to see what they can do to help the mission in Africa. Greg lived in Africa for a good part of his childhood and his heart for the continent shines brightly in this post.
His blog will likely be quiet for the next 3 weeks, but he’s started a blog related to their trip at RwandaMissions.com, which I’ve added to my blogroll at left.
If you get a minute and are so moved, say a prayer for their trip. He’s specifically asked for prayers of safety in travel, to be open to what God wants them to see and hear and to be protected from Satan’s attacks.
Tent Pegs
I’ve added another blog link at left, Tent Pegs. I stumbled onto it through New Wineskins and a post about integrety. I’ve read through a few of his posts since, and I’m hooked. I like how this guy thinks. Go check out his “man rules” for a taste.
He’s the pulpit minister for the the Rochester Church of Christ in Rochester Hills, MI, a subberb to the north of Detroit where I spent 4 years of my life (at the other end, ‘downriver’).
Time For a Site Revamp
I’ve grown weary of the look here at salguod.net and think it’s time for a change. I know enough about CSS to really much things up, but i’m going to have ago at it sometime in the future. I’m also going to try to streamline some of the areas. There’s just too much going on in many places. The comment entry form area is particularly troublesome for me. Between the Tackback info, the Subscribe info and the comment form itself the actual comments get lost. I may go to a fixed width layout like many other blogs (See Greg’s site or Messy Christian for an example) even though they irritate me. I hate the fact that I have this beautiful 15.4″ 1200 x 1600 screen on my laptop and I only get to use a third of its width. On the other hand, knowing exactly how wide my site will be on every screen makes the layout easier to manage.
So this post is to hear your suggestions. What parts of the site do you use every time you come here and what parts do you never use. What parts really bug you or get in the way of reading? Should I stay full width or would you like the fixed, narrower width?
Oh, and if you know of a way to fix the way this site prints (go to your browser’s print preview under the file menu to see what I’m talking about), let me know that too.
