You may have noticed that my left side menu is gone. I changed two characters in my main index last night and the file got corrupted. And this is the one time I didn’t back it up first. Argh! I’ll work on it this weekend.

Bummer. You should consider the “link to file” option for your templates. You then simply upload a new file when you make changes, and then rebuild. That way the original is always on your hard drive.
I had looked at that option and wondered if it would be useful. I also had this nagging feeling that I should have a more disciplined approach to site updates and back up.
Yeah, I back up my database once a month at least. Site design can be replaced; your thoughts are lost forever.
