Exodus 15:22-27, Exodus 16-18
Ex. 15:27, Ex. 16:1-22 – I love how God responds to their ungrateful whining by granting their request! How convicting is that as a Dad.
Ex. 16:13-30 – Isn’t it amazing how, even when given an unearned, undeserved gift from God, we think we know better than God on what to do with it?
Ex. 17:1-7 – You’ve gotta love the people. They watched the signs and wonders in Egypt. God gives them free bread and still they ask “Is the Lord among us or not?” It’s easy to look down, but how quickly do we doubt God when things go wrong? How quickly do we forget?
Ex. 17:14-16 – I wonder what wasn’t written down.
Ex. 18:1-9 – I didn’t realize that Mose was apart from his family this entire time. I can’t imagine carrying that burden without Maria to lean on.

Exodus 13:17-22, Exodus 14, Exodus 15:1-21
Ex. 13:17-22 – They were armed for battle, but God sent them the long way to avoid war. They thought they were ready for battle, butGod didn’t so He protected them. Did God thwart their will? Not necessarily, they had already decided to follow God out and put htemselves in His hands. They decided to give Him control and He acted in the way He thought best for them.
When Joseph made those satements there was no reason to “come to their aid.” Was this sort of a general faith in God’s love or a prediction of trouble?
Ex. 14:1-4 – It’s sometimes hard to read these acounts of Pharaoh because it seems that God is using him just to get His own glory.
Ex. 14:10-14 – ow quickly the people forget what God has done! Aren’t we the same way? Remember! Wife, family,friends, Bible, Jesus, BG &JG, JB, TW, Nonny, church – but more than that, remember how God has acted. How I prayed and Maria came into my life. How I prayed to know God better and do what ever He wanted me to and I met YS and NK and became a Christian. How I longed to see the truthover the past year and I’ve grown so much closer to Him.
Moses had faith, absolute confidence, that God would take care of them. God was ready to do so, but rebuked Moses for not acting! His faith was not enough. Lesson: We can’t just sit and wait for God to rescue us or to act. We must know Him and act in faith.
Ex. 14:19-20 – God’s protection while Isreal gets their act together.
Ex. 14:21-25 – I like the fact that the language does not allow for some natural drying of he sea to produce a pathway accross. A wall on the right and on the left.
Ex. 14:30-31 – How long did it all take? Parting the sea, traveling through (walking over the sea plants and stuff), the sea returning and the bodes washing up on shore. Longer than we think, I bet.
Ex. 15:1-18 – Is this the first recorded song to the Lord?
The people in general did not have this kind of love for God. They had not been exposed to His love and might. Through all of this God has been making Himself known to them. I am begining to see the whole Bible as God’s revelation of Himself to mankind, now complete for us to share.

Exodus 12:1-20, Exodus 12:43-49, Exodus 12:21-28, Exodus 12:50, Exodus 12:29-36, Exodus 12:51, Exodus 12:37-42, Exodus 13:1-16
Ex. 12:1-13 – Choose on the 10th, kill it on the 14th. Hmm.
Kill at twilight, blood on the door of the house where you’ll eat it and eat it that night. busy night!
Ex. 12:14-20 – A day to remember.
Cut off for eating yeast!
Do nothing but prepare food for 7 days (or is it just days 1 & 2?)
All to remember the day ythat God rescued them.
Ex. 12:43-49 – If an alien wants to particpate, not only he but all men in his house must be circumcised!
Ex. 12:21-28 – An interesting contrast to how they recieved Moses and Aaron initially. Having watched all the plagues, they have grown a healthy respect fo them.
Ex. 12:29-32 – “For there was not a house without someone dead.” Whoa. That sends chills down my spine each time I read it.
During the night Pharaoh came. From arogant to urgent.
Ex. 12:33-36 – “Go! Get out!”
Ex. 12:37-39 – Interesting that it was without yeast becasue of haste not a command. But look at the instructions in Ex. 12:21-28 – nothing about bread.
Ex. 13:1-2 – God took the first born from Egypt, now He commands the Isrealites to give up theirs.

Exodus 9-11
Ex. 9:13-26 – “I have raised you up for this very purpose.” Does this mean that Pharaoh was created for destruction? Did God take his free will away to prove a point? It seems to be contrary to what I believe His heart to be. Could it be that GOd, knowing and seeing Pharaoh’s heart, took the opportunity to demonstrate His power. Really, at an point here Pharaoh could have stopped the suffereing. God did not take that choice away, though, asHe says here, he could have. no, God gives Pharaoh ample opportunity to ‘repent’, just like he does us.
In this passage, God has compassion and even warns them of what is to happen.
Ex. 9:27-35 – “This time I sinned.” This time?!?! Note: It was still hailing and Moses was going to go outside to leave the city! What a statement of faith and of God’s protection of His own.

Exodus 5, Exodus 6:1-13, Exodus 7-8
Ex. 5:1-5 – Interesting, the group has taken the name of the man Isreal.
Ex. 5:6-14 – Interesting parallel to today. Today people, just like Pharaoh, laugh and call the dream of a better place lies and foolish.
Ex. 5:15-21 – “You load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.” (Luke 11:46)
Typical of uncaring leadership. UNreasonable demands, critical and unrelenting when they are not met.
Ex. 5:22-23, Ex. 6:1 – Look at God here: Moses is in God’s face! Why? I did what’s rigth and it got worse! And you haven’t done what you said you would! But God does not react to Moses’ indignant and even disrespectful attitude. He’s patient. You’ll see Moses.
Ex. 6:2 – A new name for GOd. Is this the begining as well of a new role for God, too, as Lord? It does seem that God did not exercise much authority prior to this.
Ex. 6:2-9 – “Then you will know”. After. God understands they don’t believe it yet.
Ex. 7:1-7 – Moses whines “If my people won’t listen why should Pharaoh? I’m not good enough to do this.” God says (ignoring the faithlessness and complaining and selfishness) “As far as Pharaoh’s concerned, you’re God.” Wow.
Ex. 7:8-13 – I love the fact that though they did the same thing, Aaron’s snake ate theirs.
Ex. 7:25, Ex. 8:1-15 – It’s starting to get to him. Moses is getting more confident. God did what Moses said to do!
Ex. 8:16-19 – Now the magicians can’t even do it adn Pharaoh is a bit more humble.
Ex. 8:20-24 – Was there no distinction before?

Exodus 1-4, Exodus 6:14-27
Ex. 1:8 – How long has passed?
Did he not know or not care? Surely the history of Joseph was known.
Ex. 1:15-22 – They stood up for what’s right and then lied about it?!? God’s response – He “was kind to [them]” and “gave them families of their own.”
Ex. 1:22 – Did Pharaoh’s order apply to his family?
Ex. 2:5-10 – God rewards the mom for her act of faith.
Ex. 2:15 – I hadn’t remembered that Pharaoh was after Moses.
Ex. 2:23-25 – God sees and cares.
Ex. 3:1-6 – When God saw him come over – was this a test? What if Moses hadn’t cared?
Ex. 3:6 – Moses had obviously heard of God. Interesting that the new king of Egypt (Ex. 1:8) didn’t respect the history of his people’s relationship with Joseph, but Moses, several generations removd, respects God. God is evidentally a big part of Hebrew culture.
Ex. 3:7-9 – “I’m going to resue them.” “Good,” I imagine Moses thought. “I wonder how …”
Ex. 3:10 – “GO!”
Ex. 3:10-12 – Interestingly, the sign of validity requires faith for it to come true!
God was amazingly silent through much of Genesis, now he speaks volumes!
Ex. 3:10-17 – Even in his anger, God provides for Moses’ need. A need that made God angry. Much is made of Moses’ miraculous survival, but Aaron survived too!
Ex. 4:21-23 – Isreal – God’s first born son. What of Abraham? Noag? Enoch?
Ex. 4:27-28 – How is it that Aaron is free from Egypt?
Ex. 6:14-27 – The answer of question of how much time has passed: Isreal to Levi (Joseph’s brother) to Kohath to Amram to Moses. Three generations from Joseph to Moses.

Genesis 47:29-31, Genesis 48-49, Genesis 50:1-26
Gen. 47:29-31 – Here’s the hand under the thigh agian. Huh?
Gen. 48:14-16 – Gratitude, an acknowledgement of God.
Gen. 49:3-4 – Refers to Gen. 35:22 – Little mentioned at the time, big concequences now.
I wonder about all these blessings. Real prophesy or just a father’s obsercation of his son” character?
Gen. 50:25-26 – Why wasn’t Joseph carried immediately to Canaan?
