St. Helens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/pictureshow\/2010\/05\/18\/126907391\/sthelens\">NPR&#8217;s picture show blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The destroyed site around Mount St. Helens was declared a monument and virtually closed to the public for the past three decades. And some interesting ecological developments came of it: life not only returned but also exploded, new forms of flora and fauna flourished, and rainbow trout somehow returned to waters &#8212; and grew in size.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Today marks 30 years since the eruption of Mt. St. Helens.  Since that time, the area has mostly been closed off to man, yet the creation has returned.
